Danish Cord

Danish Cord

Danish cord seats are woven using a specially manufactured paper fibre cord usually onto a series of "L" shaped nails on the inside of the seat rails (sometimes staples were used instead of nails). The average replacement cost of a seat in a typical "two by two" pattern single rail side or dining chair is from £110. We also specialise in the reseating of Hans Wegner Wishbone chairs and other double sided and double railed Danish cord work. The approximate cost of reseating a Wishbone chair such as shown in the gallery is £200. They are technically very difficult to do and need a lot of experience to reseat them properly.

How would you get your furniture to us? One option would be to bring your chairs along and come and visit us. We are close to the New Forest and the beautiful south coast, so a good excuse for a mini break perhaps?! Or for an estimated repair cost, you could send us a photo via e-mail. Smaller items can be sent to us via the post or a courier, (well wrapped and boxed). Give us a call and we can discuss the possibilities.

The gallery below shows some Danish chairs that we have restored. If you click on the photos, a larger image should appear.
